Electroplating usually refers to electrodeposition of a metal or alloy from a suitable electrolyte solution. In this process the article to be plated is connected as the cathode in the electrolyte solution and direct current is introduced through the anode which consists of the metal to be deposited. A number of hazardous chemical such as acids, sulfuric, hydrochloric, hydrofluoric, nitric, formic, chromic (chromium trioxide) have been used in electroplating.

Different types of Electroplating Chemicals usually consists of Alkalis sodium hydroxide; ammonia, Inorganic salts: potassium hydroxide; cyanides, salts of cadmium, gold, chromium, copper, tin, zinc, nickel, Solvents: trichloroethylene; trichloroethane, acetone; carbon tetrachloride, methyl isobutyl ketone, kerosene, Organic additives: inhibitors, brighteners, foam-suppressing agents, Miscellaneous: soaps and detergents, oxidizers, water-softening agents.
